Which set should I buy?

Both the stencil sheets and the individually cut out shapes offer the same function, but there may be factors that make one right for you. The first is that the cut out shapes are smaller, and present many more pieces. They are packaged in zip lock bags and organized by shapes, but if you are worried about losing pieces or the idea of taking them out of the baggie and putting them back in to organize then you should purchase the sheets. The sheets on the other hand, may be easier to organize, but can be cumbersome to hold on a small slab.

How to clean my templates?

We know that these can get dirty easily, but they are also easily cleaned with a wet cloth and dish soap. Avoid window cleaning sprays, glass cleaners, acetone, thinner, gasoline, or other solvents, as these can weaken the acrylic and cause a haze or permanent damage. Be careful with a dry cloth, which may drag dirt or dust particles on the surface, scratching the acrylic.

Will these get scratched or broken easily?

Cast acrylic is significantly more durable than extruded acrylic, but is not as scratch resistant as glass. Take care with your product and don’t rub or drag your rocks on the acrylic and they will be fine. There are products for polishing out fine scratches and haze, but if you keep you stencils away from abrasive objects, they will last a very long time.
